The educational institute Government Polytechnic, Malvan was granted in educational year 1985-86 according to Government decision No. GTI 1085/[6] IB Date 17th September,1985 of education & service scheme department. After getting permission Government Polytechnic, Malvan is established in 1985-86 & The first PRINCIPAL was Mr. P. S. Dhavle.

He took charge on 3rd October 1985. The institute started in 'Kudalkar High School' on rental scheme with Two branches CIVIL ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING with admission capacity of 30 students per branch. ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING, FOOD TECHNOLOGY branch was granted later in educational year 1996-97.

The two branches COMPUTER ENGINEERING & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING are started in year 2007-08 with intake capacity of 60 students each..

The institute was shifted to 'DEVALI CHA MAAL' i.e.at Kumbharmath on it's own Government building with indivisual workshop and having Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, & Officer Workers Quarters as welll as canteen for students in the huge premisses. From 1985 to till today institute Progress in higher & higher.

Now our institute is most approfeciable institute.. I sincerely believe that students will make best use of opportunities to develop themselves to build our Nation.
